A PEOPLE-ORIENTED PUBLIC SPACE DESIGN

The Public Design Office is responsible of developing high-quality, participatory, and contemporary design practices in public spaces. The office not only coordinates urban design competitions but also monitors and reports on the urban design projects of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

Competitions

The Public Design Office organizes competitions for the redesign of problematic or potential areas that can add value to the city. The main starting point of the competitions is to increase participation. The selection process consists of a multi-layered system operated by assigning roles to different stakeholders including all Istanbul residents.

Project Monitoring and Reporting

The local needs that have been determined and are being determined are re-evaluated with a public-oriented approach for the projects carried out under the roof of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. To this end, the solutions generated are planned together and coordinated between different units.
